Description
There are relatively few moving parts in a traditional weight and pulley system. However, as sash have become increasingly heavy with larger glass sizes and double and even triple glazing, the use of very high quality pulleys has become critical. Failure in a pulley (binding, squealing or even a broken axle) results in an improperly operating window. In these cases, repair can be very time consuming and expensive, involving the removal of trim, sash, weather-stripping systems, disassembly of the weight and chain from the sash, installation of proper high quality sash pulleys, reassembly and re-painting. Because pulleys are so “deeply” built into the construction of and are critical to the smooth operation of a well performing double hung window, it is essential to use the very best.
These sash pulleys are the finest available in appearance, durability and function. Model PBB 250 pulleys are designed for large, heavy sash weights up to 2-1/4″ diameter such are found in commercial and public buildings. Residential and smaller buildings typically require the smaller 2-1/4” pulley, click here for more information. The pulley is carefully designed with a precisely machined faceplate. The radiused ends allow for rapid, simple and accurate mortising with a standard 1-1/8″ diameter router bit. Housing body = 2-7/8″ X 7/8″ X 1-7/8″ deep.
The solid brass forged and machined housing shields the ball bearing and axle, preventing dirt and grit from affecting performance and assures many decades of easy operation. The wheel is CNC machined from solid brass. The pulley utilizes a chromed steel axle and sealed ball bearing and is available in five finishes: Lacquered Brass, Unlacquered Brass, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Polished Nickel and Satin Nickel.
Use of bronze or stainless steel sash chain with these pulleys virtually eliminates all maintenance to the weight and pulley system. The pulley accommodates a full range of sash chain, however the use of the larger #35 and #45 chain is strongly recommended for use with heavier or sash with insulated glass.

Strong enough for our large windows
We refurbished our Greek Revival home and added insulated glass to the front triple hung sash. Because the new units were quite heavy, we installed these larger and stronger pulleys. They work great and look very nice in the window frames. I recommend these pulleys for all large windows.

Very solid pulleys! We have used hundreds of these in the last couple years, I’m very confident with the quality.

Too nice. Makes the rest of the window look like a dumpster fire
These things are built like tiny, silent tanks. They run smooth and easily manage the additional weight of insulated glass in old sashes. It’s such a pity 90% of their beauty is stuck in the dark confines of the interior of the window jamb, hanging out with spiders, termites and big rusty chunks of suspended cast iron.
I may get some for my wife to wear as earrings.

Very well made pulleys. In the past I have relied on salvaged hardware, which can be difficult to find and have limited options. Will definitely be using again . Thanks
