We’ve added Window & Door Making an instructional guide by Donovan Harding to our offerings. This short booklet gives insight into one accomplished mechanic’s approach to the trade.
The booklet originally took the form of a letter to a friend who’d requested that he document his process. The letter resurfaced years later and in 2021 Donovan produced a limited printing. Early this year, we approached Donovan to see if he’d be willing to undertake a second printing. To our delight, he agreed and it’s available once again.
The booklet includes a new preface and is a brief 30 pages. The bulk pertains to sash and jamb making with short portions touching on various styles of doors.
This is an opportunity to get a peek into the approach of a working traditional window and door maker with 4 decades of experience. Practical books on the subject are thin on the ground and I recommend that anyone who’s serious about this branch of millwork have a copy in their library as well as Doormaking and Window-Making by Anonymous.
